Speed sensor being affected by magnetized chain

I rode my bicycle all winter with the magnet less speed sensor. I took it off the trainer and rode it for a week on a trip. On the way back the bike was covered in salt/snow. I removed the chain and cleaned it in a bucket of solvent, relubed and replaced on the bike. Bike is back on the trainer and I was "looking forward" to an FTP test.

But I run TrainerRoad or my Garmin 520 I get erratic speed reading when I pedal.

If I spin the rear wheel by hand (no pedal/chain movement) the speed settles out and decreases as the wheel spins down in speed.
If I spin the rear wheel by hand and pedal the chain backwards the speed displayed jumps around +/- 5-10kph
If I pedal backwards with the wheel NOT moving the speed sensor displays speed in relation to cadence (up to 20kph at 100rpm!!!)

I've removed the cadence sensor and the speed sensor still displays movement without the back tire moving. I've seen other posts out there about magnetized chains. What in the heck.... cycling shouldn't be this hard!!!

How do I go about de-magnetizing my bike chain?!
