I cycle with an Edge 520 + heart monitor. I just bought a Vivosport (for the rest of my activities). Both are connected to the same Garmin Connect and Strava accounts. What are best practices with 2 Garmin devices? Should I wear the Vivosport cycling while simultaneously using the Edge 520? Should I start a cycling activity on the Vivosport? I want "credit" for the activity toward my goals in Connect once (not twice, or not missing elements of goals in Connect because I didn't start or wear the Vivosport while cycling). Any tips?
If you do that and use a heart rate strap and turn the watch off, there will be a gap in the daily heart rate graph though. the intensity minutes will also not be rewarded, if I’m not wrong.
is best practice just leaving the watch on without recording an activity?
I have VA3 and Edge 520. I am recording bike rides with both devices and after that I am eraseing VA3 recordings from GC. Intensity minutes are kept. This seams good practice for me because VA3 is not as good as edge for.
apart from battery consumption i can see no problems with your idea. the question is, will intensity minutes be collected without recording an activity? if so, you wouldn't even have to record on the va3?!
maybe if Move IQ is turned on, but other than that I think activity recording must be started for intensity minutes to be collected. Battery consumption is around 15% for one hour of GPS recording.
