    Hi Shaw

Beta can be installed on any Edge 520? Mine come from HK with language Chinese/English
  • Sorry no. This beta will not run on the regional models, but I don' think the regional models had gone to Connect IQ 2.4.1 yet, so they would not need this fix anyway.

    Thanks for the explanation aweatherall

Garmin is the only company I know that makes multilingual products that can not be used in all languages indicated and with updates differentiated by region. Of course this is not indicated anywhere and Garmin does not provide any solution.

It's a shame, impossible to change the language of my Edge 520 in French because it was bought in Hong Kong
  • Most units do support multiple languages. The regional models are not there to support different languages. The regional models are there so that different features sets or capabilities can be added to support the unique requirements of that region/market.

I fully understand the frustration of buying the unit in one region and then moving to another region. It took me a while to figure all this out. Buying units across regions is a different issue. Vendors are not supposed to sell region specific units outside of that region, which is why they may only support a subset of the languages that Garmin supports.

In the case of the Edge 520: there is strictly no different features or capabilities -> the only difference are the updates with a version of delay compared to the latest version available. The double punishment :-(

By following the help I can put the language file for the French using Garmin Express without no error but the interface is not translated and Garmin support says it's normal

Imagine buying an iPhone or Microsoft Windows whose language could not be changed because it would have been bought in a particular country?

I am an old Garmin product buyer (Etrex Legend etc.) but there I am very disappointed that Garmin does not provide at least a solution to flash the Edge 520 and change the language.
  • is the 12.50 release the same as the beta - ie is there any reason to update to 12.50 if you are running the 12.41 beta ?
  • Big problem with high battery consumption 12% - 20% of battery per hour and up! Same 12.5!
  • Check that the screen brightness and back light duration have not changed on your unit.
