Backlight Timeout - Access

My apologies if this has been addressed before. Regarding the garmin edge 520 and the backlight timeout setting. In the 510 there was a quick access to this setting with the light button. But it seems the genius engineers at Garmin have removed this. I start my ride in complete darkness and set it to Stay On, however as everyone knows that is a battery killer. So once the sun comes up I wish to change it back to 15 Seconds. Here is my current method for accessing that option:

DOWN (To access Menu), UP, ENTER (Settings), DOWN, ENTER (System), ENTER (Display), DOWN, ENTER (Backlight Timeout), ENTER (for Stays on),
Then I hit BACK, BACK, BACK, ENTER - Although I just realized I can also hit Stop twice to get to the display screen.

Threre has to be an easier way! I have emailed Garmin and they never responded.
  • Not using the Edge there isn't. A better option is the Edge Remote, which is what I use. You can set it up so you can activate the backlight with it. I leave mine on a short timeout (15 seconds) and just activate it when I need to. I also use it to scroll through the various screens I have set up. I place it on my bars near my right brake hood so I don't have to move my hand to operate my Edge.

I leave the backlight on all the time. Most of the time the brightness is set to 0%.
i just use the brightness control to turn it up when needed.
