Edge and Fenix - Sync of Training Status, Last Sport and probably more.

I have a feeling this may have been asked before, but bear with me :)

Been using the Fenix 5 for a while, but bought the Edge 520 yesterday, since I've been doing more cycling lately. Took it for a short ride today, and it seems good. The only disappointing thing is that things like Training Status and Last Sport on the Fenix does not seem to update from the Edge activity. Is this Just The Way It Is?

    Indeed. Thanks!
  • To summarise though, there are a few choices but in all cases you always need to record the cycling activity on the Fenix 5.

Whilst you wait for Garmin to provide integration...in addition you could do one of the following:
    1) Use the 520 simply to display HR, speed, cadence, power without pressing start (I do this with a 310XT)
    2) Record on the 520 at the same time as on the f5 but don't save the activity at the end. This way you get average speed and distance on the Edge.
    3) Record on the 520 at the same time as on the f5, save, and upload to a different GC account This way you get the FTP calculation stored somewhere.

I don't have the "FTP-sensor" yet, so cadence and a better monitor during the workout is basically what the Edge gives me. Seems I can pair the Cadence Sensor to both Edge and Fenix, so I'll go with 2) for now.
  • Unlike BLE sensors, ANT+ sensors broadcast and can be picked up by as many head units as you like. In your case you can pair all your sensors with both your f5 and your Edge.

If you have a power meter then you get FTP and cycling VO2max metrics.
