Change firmware asia edition to europe edition

Hello,
I bought online a Garmin Edge 520 but I realized only later that it contains the asia edition firmware , you know if you can delete it and put europe edition firmware?

The short answer is no.

Same problem with a 530. The Asia version is way behind on software updates and I'm told by Garmin support that I can't buy maps, for exams when I travel to Europe. Garmin should be very clear about regional device limitations. Luckily it seems I can use open source maps, but it won't have the Garmin route popularity information.
