Border around screen when recording

Hi
Just wondering if there is a way to remove the picture frame style border that appears around the outside of the screen when you have the garmin recording a ride. It takes up screen space and obscures the bottom of the numbers and text at the bottom of the screen (I have 4 sections on a screen). This is with firmware 11. Thanks for any help.
  • I think what you might be observing is a colored notification boarder. If the timer is stopped via auto-pause it puts up an orange boarder to indicate that the timer has been paued. The boarder goes once you start moving and the timer restart.

What color is the boarder you are seeing and does it clear when you are moving?

Yes it is a coloured border. It was not going away initially, but now seems to be working properly and disappearing. I am new to the 520 so still getting to know what is normal. Only just updated to the latest firmware V11 soon after I got it. Hopefully will behave itself now. Thanks for your reply.

Once an activity is started the bolder appears if it is stopped manually or via auto-pause. Yellow is the color for auto-pause and red for a manual stop. In either case data is not recorded when the bolder is present. It could be that you hit the start/stop button to manually pause the activity.

I noticed this orange border while I had it connected via extended display with my Fenix 5X. I was riding and the border was still there. I still notice that all the data fields were moving but the orange border was blocking my speed while riding. Anybody experience this??

BTW I have an Edge 520 Plus

Data fields will move if the timer is not started or manually paused but you are moving. However, recording is not happening.
Be sure to Start your activity.

Hi texmurphy I appreciate the feed back. I have my Fenix 5X on auto pause. When I get moving again the watch and Edge 520 plus goes to the play mode however, the orange border does not go away for awhile. Gets annoying when my speed is blocked from the orange border while riding.
