Power Zones - Am I Missing Something?

After spending the last few years gauging my efforts on feel and heart rate I've finally bought myself a power meter so I can really dial in to the effort that I'm putting out on intervals, climbs, turns on the front etc. So I've completed an FTP test and set up my power zones within my Garmin 520 but, just like looking at raw power output, this become meaningless unless an average is given (3, 5, 10 second average etc). Without an average I'm just looking at a constantly changing power zone figures (1.5, 3, 3.6, 5.3, 4.4 etc). This is useless while riding so what am I missing? If I use the 3, 10, 30 second averages then I see the actual average power. This is a start but then it means I have to know what those numbers relate to in terms of zones. Say I'm riding at 220 Watts I'd also need to know what zone that equates too. Can't the power zone data field be set up so that it works on the average of the last 3, 10, 30 seconds like the average power field?:confused:
