Firmware v8.00 and segments

firmware v8 gives us more course options !?

we can turn segments on and off (in course settings)
and we can configure data fields for segments (none or 2) in the data fields setup

does this mean we can use strava live segments at the same time as a course ? Didn't have any segments "starred" to test today.

these options not present in previous firmware but nothing in the change log

No it does not. It means that you can control the use of Garmin Connect segments that get imbedded in a Garmin Connect course if you are using Garmin Connect segments and build a course in Garmin Connect and send it to your Edge.

I thought that garmin had all but given up on their segments?

Please tell me the configurable data fields work for strava though ?

Any reason these weren't in the change log ?

The new data fields work with any segment or course.
