New livetrack and beacon features and auto start timer on 520?

However, my Edge 520 (v7.20) does not have the setting to automatically start the timer, the 820 does. From the manual:

Does this mean that this will be added in a future firmware update for the 520 or is the products page just mistaken?

I can tell you that Autostart is an in app setting, it is not on the device. When your phone is bt connected to the device it will be shown. My device is a newly upgraded Edge 1000 and the setting appeared yesterday.

Both the 1000 and 820 have had firmware released in the last few days which enabled the auto start feature. I'd expect the 520 firmware to come in the next week or two. Personally, I'm a little disappointed that it appears to be restricted to cycling devices as I'd love to automatically notify my wife I'm leaving work with my Forerunner 230...:-)

I saw something about this on the fr 735, so I'm not sure it's only cycling devices. But it does seem that new FW is needed

If it gets added to devices like the 230, only time will tell. The 735 has much more horsepower and memory than the 230, so that may be a factor.

The Edge devices need a software update to add the ability to send a message to GCM. Currently the Edge 520 does not yet have this update. Recent update to the 820 and 1000 added it. I would expect that it will be added to the 520 soon.
