Edge 520 Software upgrade, now won't pair with iPhone

On Monday I made the mistake of upgrading the software on my Edge 520 to v. 7.10, after which I am unable to pair it with my iPhone via bluetooth. I've tried anything, but no luck. Has anyone else encountered this?
  • I think there are other threads on this topic, but the gist is to forget the two Bluetooth pairings under My Devices in Settings | Bluetooth, toggle Bluetooth off and on the 520, then re-pair both Bluetooth settings again.

I had the same issue with a Samsung phone. Unpaired both phone and Garmin unit and then re-paired and everything ok.

Having the same issue with bluetooth pairing

I've forgotten the device on my iphone, disconnected the iphone on my garmin 520, restarted the phone, restarted the garmin, paired the devices.
In the bluetooth settings on the phone, it says the garmin is connected but the garmin status still shows disconnected
I've gone through this process 5 times at least.
  • According to my notes for the 520:

Turn off Bluetooth on the Garmin (Menu - Settings - Bluetooth - Disable)
Delete the two Bluetooth profiles for the 520 on the iPhone and kill the Garmin Connect app
On the Garmin turn Bluetooth back on and pair to the iPhone (in Settings - Bluetooth, under Other Devices) with "BT_Edge_520"
Fire up the Garmin Connect app on the iPhone, then pair with "BLE_Edge 520" (also under Other Devices)
