Lost all connections - BT, Sensors

Bit of a strange one, hope someone can help before I warranty it!
Edge 520, bought in March, been faultless up to now, no issues at all.
Now on Firmware 6.2

Rode MTB last night, connected to my phone and HR strap. All good. Ride uploaded seconds after pressing stop.
Grabbed my road bike tonight, the 520 wouldn't connect to my phone or any of my sensors (HR, speed, cadence)
Went out anyway, no sensor data but recording seemed to be working. Ride uploaded via cable to Strava/Connect and data is there along with speed, temp etc but no sensor data (of course).

Tried progressively harder to fix it:
From the sensor settings, 'force' it to connect
Delete and re-pair BT
Remove maps and activities
Sync and upgrade firmware to 7.1
Reboot, try to re-pair my phone. No joy (checked with 2 phones). The Garmin doesn't come up as an available device in the phone BT settings. It does pop up sometimes using a long string AD:F3:...... style name rather than the 'nickname', but won't pair.
Factory reset, clear vol memory, still won't pair in BT.

So, stumped! Any clues?

I talked to the Warranty department directly. Worked through some options but it's dead and is being replaced.

Frustrating - it's 6 months old, used on and off mostly on the road bike.
My old 200 also failed randomly, just lost all GPS one day.
I hope the new unit is improved and more robust!
