edge 520 stuck on garmin logo after 7.0 update

hi,
Today my 520 asked for the 7.0 update to be installed. Now the device doesn't start anymore, it remains stuck on the garmin logo. Reset (10sec on power button) doesn't work. (well, it restarts, but remains stuck). I tried to connect it to a pc, but it's not recognized.

Anyone has an idea how to perfom another kind of reset? or should I send it for service?
thanks.

I had the same thing initially. Waited for the Edge 520 to auto shutdown. Next time I restarted it started up fine & has been ok in use (other than having to re-pair phone).
  • Try forcing it in to mass storage more. Once it is in mass storage mode check to see if anything is in the Garmin\NewFiles folder. If there is try remove it.

    Force to Mass Storage:

    • Power the device off
    • Press and hold the lap button while plugging into usb (with or without factory cable)
    • Wait 10 seconds and device should go to mass storage

    Thanks for the replies!

After having let the 520 shut down by itself like suggested, it restarted flawlessly.

I note down the mass storage procedure, though, it might be helpful someday.

    Have a nice day!
  • I have the same problem yet I have auto shutoff disabled. I have tried pressing the power button for 30s which reboots the unit but I've had no luck forcing it into mass storage mode by pressing the lap button when it is rebooting. My computer makes noise like it sees a usb device but then it makes another like a usb device has been disconnected.
    What should I do next?
  • Another restart and it's good now. Weird. I restarted MANY times.

That just worked for me. My Edge 520 was freezing on Loading Maps after updating to 12.0. There were over 8200 .TMP files in that folder so I deleted them all.
