Battery Life

Has anyone noticed that since the last update the battery life has decreased? The last couple of weekends we have been doing 6+ hour rides and twice I have gotten the "Low Battery" message on my screen and 5 hours in. Luckily, we finished before it went totally dead.

I have a few more longer rides planned in the next couple of weeks and would hate to loose a big part of the ride because the battery quit out before I did.

Thanks,
Bart

You are a lucky man :)
  • Also, most elite riders are getting their data from power meter units.

All power meters broadcast to a head unit.
  • Around 6-6.5 Hrs of total activity time (5.25hrs actually riding) has given me 55% left. To be honest I'm happy enough with that.

I wasn't using any navigation of connect iq apps which might effect battery life and wasn't using the backlight, which I suspect is the big battery killer.
  • I too was suffering from bad battery performance and I thought it was the 6.2 update because that's when it started happening. I would ride to work 54miles round trip 3 hours total ride time and normally i could do 3 rides before needing to charge, but after the 6.2 update I rode to work and then 2 days later on my next ride battery was completely dead! But then I remembered I also installed this Garmin IQ app around the same time. After uninstalling it battery was good again. This past weekend I had an activity with a total time of 5.5 hours and I had 70% left.

btw I have phone, HR monitor, Virb XE and power meter connected. display brightness is set to 0.
