Edge 520 getting HR from Vivoactive HR

Can anyone tell me if the edge 520 is able to receive data from the vivoactive like say the HR so that the chest monitor is not required. I'm not fussed if it does it "live" or if it does it post activity like say a marriage of data in the garmin connect site ? if it can do it on any level is what I'm asking.

Thanks in advance.
  • I don't have a Vivoactive HR, but I do have a forerunner 235, which has the wrist based optical heart rate monitor. I'm able to broadcast my heart rate data from the watch to my edge 520. Go to the online manual of your watch, and figure out how to broadcast the heart rate and then pair it to the 520.

Perfect thanks got it working but it's really buggy

Seems to stop broadcasting for no apparent reason ???

Try to determine if the watch stops broadcasting or if the 520 isn't receiving the signal. When the forerunner 235 is in broadcast mode, that's all it will do and the screen displays the current heart rate. If that display screen becomes blank, then perhaps the wrist based optical heart rate monitor is losing contact with your arm. If this is the case make sure you are wearing the watch up above your wrist bone and that the strap is very tight. If it is still broadcasting but not being read by the 520, try unpairing and then repairing it.
