Using D-Fly and Di2 to calculate cadence from Gear ratios & speed

Hi. I have a 520 and one of my bikes has Di-2 but no cadence sensor. Is it possible for the 520 to accurately calculate cadence from the data provided from DI-2 via the D-Fly unit using gear ratios and speed?

If so, i might look to invest in a d-fly unit rather than another cadence sensor for this bike.

No is the short answer. The Di2 is only transmitting a position index for the front and rear gears. It has no way of knowing if you are pedaling or not so even if you used the GPS speed to compute the wheel revolutions you don't know if the rider is pedaling or not.

Pretty old thread but... what about the opposite? Calculating instant speed from cadence sensor/ Di2 gear ratio/ ?? wheel diameter ??
