No GPS after 5.20 update

Hi,
i finally applied the 5.20 update yesterday, and since my unit cant seem to get a satellite fix. I use the HR sensor and that seems fine, as does bluetooth connection to my phone. In case it was a one off, i tried a device reset but its still the same today.

I found that GPS test menu from another post and on view satellites it just shows Locating Satellites with a load of them in grey. GPS test shows things like they should im guessing in green.

Ive flicked between GPS and GPS / GLONASS and generally messed around as much as i can but the next step is a firmware downgrade - has anyone else seen this or have any ideas?

Thanks
  • I'm sure that you have tried this, but switch the unit on and place it in the open with a clear view of the sky and leaving it for 10 to 15 minutes. Make sure that auto-sleep is off when doing this.
  • I havent specifically tried that actually, but last night and this mornings cycle are around an hour each, and during the rides i had several 'cannot find satellite should i keep trying' type messages, so i think its had a fair run out in the open pointing upwards?

    Thanks
  • The problem is that if you are moving while trying to get a lock it can have problems. I would suggest keeping the unit still for while and see if it can get a lock. Once it gets a lock it builds an almanac of satellites that it found to speed up the lock process next time it looks.

The bar turn green when the current ephemeris data for the satellite has been downloaded. That data should have been downloaded when the phone was connected. I think something must be corrupt. Rebuilding the system should fix it.
  • Hi,
thanks for this. So ive tried leaving it outside for 25 minutes with a clear view of the sky and it still didnt find any satellites. Then, i downgraded to v4, and again tried leaving it facing the sky and still nothing. Now im back to 5.20 and no change.

Does anyone have any ideas? Although i know for a fact it worked until the upgrade (cycled that morning working fine, didnt work on the way home after upgrading) im wondering if its an unlikely bad luck faulty unit...

    Thanks
  • The only thing left before contacting are support would be to try a full reset of the unit and then let it try and get a lock.
