Is there a reason it's missing? I'd like to have it. Where should I send a feature request? Thanks.

  • Could you describe what "Auto climb" is?
  • I'm not sure he's referring to this but I heard that some devices can be configured to automatically switch (based on gradient or other info) to elevation page when a climb begins ...
  • I see the Garmin epix has this feature.

    From the epix user manual

    Enabling Auto Climb

You can use the auto climb feature to detect elevation changes automatically. You can use it during activities such as climbing, hiking, running, or biking.

    • Hold .
    • Select Settings > Apps.
    • Select an activity. NOTE: This feature is not available for all activities.
    • Select Auto Climb > Status > On.
    • Select Run Screen to identify which data screen appears while running.
    • Select Climb Screen to identify which data screen appears while climbing.
    • If necessary, select Invert Colors to reverse the display colors when changing modes.
    • Select Vertical Speed to set the rate of ascent over time.
    • Select Mode Switch to set how quickly the device changes modes.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Would love for it to switch to the elevation profile page when climbing (I find it helps me a lot psychologically) and then switch back to the map page for descents (great for figuring out what kind of twists and turns to expect).
This feature is also on the Fenix 3.

I quite like the sound of this, but bear in mind there would be a delay in switching as the 520 is a little challenged at deciding when you are climbing, or descending. May be quicker to switch pages yourself.

Yeah, I'm thinking about longer climbs, 10 minutes to an hour sort of thing. It's really just a nice to have.
  • Maybe submit feature request?
