Incorrect Time of Day

On on page in upper right corner, next to the temperature display, the time being display is +2hrs from correct time for my time zone. Is there a way to fix this?
  • Assuming that you have gotten a GPS fix and that the time did not get corrected then the problem is either a corrupt or missing time zone file.

    You can force an install of this file by deleting it from the Edge if it is there, Garmin\gmaptz.img. After removing it from the Edge switch the Edge on so that it can update the device.fit and GarminDevice.xml files.
    Next, connect it back to the PC and run Garmin Express. It should offer up the install of the time zone map.

    If it does not then let me know and I can post the file here and you can manually install it.
  • Thanks that fixed it. I fat fingered the file but I had a backup. Thanks again.

    I manually deleted the Garmin\gmaptz.img file and did the other steps. However, my time of day is still one hour ahead after the time change earlier today. Perhaps I need to install the time zone map?
  • Have you gotten a GPS lock since the time change?

    It could be that the map is put of date. What time zone are you in?

    I just got a GPS lock since the time change. I am in Pacific time zone (WA), and the Edge 520 still shows one hour ahead. For example, it's now 10:11 AM, but it displays 11:11 AM.
  • I just tested mine after reading your post.. Mine displayed 9:16am at 1st boot for a split second but then almost immediately changed to 10:16am which is the correct time after the time change of one hour forward..

    The time should be one hour forward from yesterday.. Spring forward and Fall back = We just sprung forward one hour.

    Not sure why your unit is not updating to the correct time however..
  • That is strange as it sounds like it has applied double day light saving hours. It could be an error in the time zone map.

    If you look in the Garmin\GarminDevice.xml file what version do you see for the part number shown below?

    <PartNumber>006-D1074-00</PartNumber>
    <Version>
    <Major>16</Major>
    <Minor>2</Minor>
    </Version>

    <Version>

    <Minor>20</Minor>
    </Version>

    Oh, I no longer have the gmaptz.img file since that was deleted, and the 520 didn't install a new one.
  • It should have re-installed it.

    Here is like to copy of the file I have. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33919776/Garmin/TimeZone/V16.02/gmaptz.img

    Just place it in the Garmin folder on the Edge

    Copying the gmaptz.img file back to the Garmin seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks.
