Edge 520 won't power up at All

Anyone had an issue with the edge 520 not powering/starting up at all. I have had this happen twice now.

The first time happened about two weeks after i brought the device last year in October. It just would not start one day with the display remaining totally blank when pressing the "on" button.

I started emailing Garmin support who had not heard of the issue. After about 5 days I decided to return it to the store i had purchased it from and as a matter of curiosity decided to try the on button again and of course it powered on and started working again.

Yesterday the exact same thing happened with it not turning on. Absolutely dead. Any idea/suggestions as to what to do?

    I have an issue with stuck on "loading profiles..." and went through all suggestions I found at forum. I lost hope nothing works for me. 

    Garmin support does not respond as well.

    My unit was over a year out and out of warranty. Just died overnight. Did the master reset but it just stayed on the splash screen. I would add step 6. Power off/on when the unit displays the splash screen for more than 60 seconds.

    I was lucky all my settings were saved.

  • I've had my Edge 520 for about two years.  Not much use.  Yesterday it only loaded half a ride, then some time later went dead.  Method 2 worked, pressing for about 7 seconds.

  • Thank you for this.  Mine froze to the off position and this did bring it back from the dead.

    Thanks, second step worked, just had to hold down for about 20 seconds.

    Had the same issue with mine, woke up to go for a ride and device wouldn't power up. Tried your first option and it worked, Thanks for your help.

    Thank you Mark. The power on/down button worked..took about 30 seconds to get to main menu but it worked. Since it was mentioned in a previous comment, my issue occurred a few days after downloading the Strava app...not sure if it had anything to do with it as the Garmin has worked flawlessly for 4 years.

  • Hi, mine also did the same this morning after doing a few updates this weekend. So maybe there is either a problem  with the last firmware or one of the apps . problem is that i managed to get it to start but it does no go part the start screen  - tries both options
