Edge 520 keeps getting stuck at "wake up sensors to connect" when turning on?

Hello,

I've just purchased a new Garmin Edge 520 with speed, heart-rate and cadence sensors. At the shop and on my way riding home it was functioning perfectly. But now when I turn the unit back on it goes through the setup prompts beginning with Set brightness. When you get to wake up sensors it just sits there and eventually turns off? Am I doing anything wrong or is there a problem with my unit or sensors? I have Wi-Fi in my home so not sure if that is interfering?

Looks like I am going to be riding without even a speed readout until I fix what is going on. Otherwise, its back to the shop!
  • Check the software version on the unit. If it has come straight from the shop it likely has whatever build was on the unit when it was manufactured. There have been a lot of updates over the last few months.

You will need to download and use Garmin Express to update the software on the Edge if you have not already done so.

It should be going back through the set-up process on each start-up. That is indicating that the unit is show how getting reset.

    Same here

Same device and problem here. Garmin Express says I have the newest update. I tried to moved with my wheel and pedals, but it's not responding.
I tried to remove battery and put it back. The sensors responded by blinking of light indicator, so they are not dead. I don't know the other way how to "wake them up".
    Any other ideas?

    Same here too

My new, out of the box Edge 520 can't find any ANT+ sensors. Not even the pre-paired cadence & speed sensors included in the bundle. I tried a reset of the unit, and now it's not paired to the included sensors anymore, and I can't pair them again or any other ANT+ sensors for that matter. :(

    Same here, but now ok¿?

I had the same issue after I had installed the latest software update. I turned on my 520 in preperation for my evening ride and it could not find my factory paired sensors. After about 10 minutes of searching I decided to just get on with my ride and let it try and find them while I was cycling. After about five miles in it eventually did manage to pair with them. The unit appeared to have reset and required me to go through the out of box set up. The whole thing was a pain in the butt, however fingers crossed, it's now ok.

Edge 520 keeps getting stuck at "wake up sensors to connect" when turning on

I just had the same problem after software update. New unit, never used. After turning on, got stuck in "sensor connect" loop and user data fields. Could not reset or do anything else. So, again went thru user fields but this time I selected NO whenever I had a yes/no choice. At the end got message to "not enter date while riding" (or something like that), pressed enter and got back to the menu page. I was able to connect to all sensors, looks like all of my data is there. Turned unit off and on, seems to be OK.

Mine did the same thing, you just have to spend a few minutes pairing all your sensors on the bike and most importantly you MUST CONFIRM that the sensor displayed is yours cause it will pickup any sensor that is nearby that why you should do it somewhere where your alone and not with some mate watching or waiting for the ride to start.
