520 Calibration Failed Code

Hi guys,

Just got a 520 but is now happening also with my 810. When I calibrate my Powertap P1 pedals I get the following Calibration Code Errors-6,7,8. I'm on 3.10 firmware and the pedals are up to date as well.

I have changed the batteries on the pedals but no luck. The Garmins are fining the Power Meter so all a bit strange.

Any ideas??
  • Are you sure that they are error codes and not the offset value? Values 6,7.8 are the types of values that a P1 set would return after calibration. It could be that PowerTap are passing the offset value using the wrong the message if they are being identified as an error.

    Hi Alan,

Not sure, I just get the message saying Calibration Failed and then underneath Calibration Errors 6,7 or 8. The Powertap is up to date as well and the Garmin recognises the Power Meter. The only thing I can think that has changed is downloading 3.1 onto the Garmin to adjust the crank length for the P1.

Very frustrating as it's really messed up my training this weekend.

    Any further ideas gratefully received!

  • Do you have an iPhone? What version does the PowerTap report for the P1 pedals?

If you could take a screen capture of what the 520 or 810 reports after the calibration that would help. (Do you know how to enable the screen capture feature on these devices?)

Send me a private message with tout email address and I can you some instructions on capturing the ANT+ traffic. My hope it is that the calibration offset values are being labeled as an error when they should not.

    What are the LED's doing?
