Elevation gain when creating a course.

Evening, been creating courses on garmin connect is there any way to see the elevation gain once you've created the course without actually cycling it first.. I've been into the course info once I'm completed and it just has -- next to it.. Also how can I set and save the ave speed, when creating routes every time I plan a route the ave speed is preset to 9.7km/h, regards.

In my experience elevation gain is calculated by Garmin Connect automatically.

You can set up Virtual Partner Speed when creating a course (in the rightmost panel, bottom corner)

I just tried a route and it looks like GC is not updating the total elevation. I don't use GC so I don't know if this is temporary problem or it's always that way. If you upload the file to RideWithGPS it will give the total gain.

Thanks for the reply, I've had a look on the RideWithGPS website looks good, do I. Need to have the premium membership to be able to create routes and send to the garmin?

You're welcome. You don't need a premium membership. It gives you extras like being able to have course placed prior to a turn rather than right at the turn.

Ok thanks, will sign up and see if I can create a course and send it across to the garmin and see how it works..
