Edge 520 not recognized by iMac desktop computer

Prior to today's ride, the 520 would automatically pair with my iPhone 6S and I would stop and save the ride and the ride would be uploaded to Strava, Ride With GPS and Garmin Connect by the time I put the bike away. Today, the pairing did not occur so when I finished my ride, I plugged the 520 into my desktop map to download the file to the logging programs. The 520 is not being recognized by the iMac. Found a Garmin procedure posted 11/9/15 (https://goo.gl/yVmwYy) and followed it three times. The computer still does not recognize the 520.

In the meantime, I have been able to pair the iPhone and the 520 so my ride has been uploaded to the logging programs. However, I need to move the rides saved on the 520 to the archive files on the computer so I still need the computer to recognize the 520.

Are you plugging the 520 directly into the iMac USB port or an USB hub of some sort? Have you tried a different iMac USB port?

Thanks for the reply. No, I am plugged directly into one of the four USB ports on the back of the iMac and yes, I have tried different ports. The 520 will charge, it just not discoverable by the iMac. The iMac OS is Yosemite ver 10.10.4 and the 520 had been connecting to it correctly before.

That was easy!!

Called Garmin Support and found that I was using the wrong cable to interconnect between the 520 and the iMac! Who knew:confused:? Must use the cable with "Garmin" stamped into the USB plug. Easy, peasey!

Glad to hear it is working. Just a note though... any micro-USB cable should work (I use multiple - depending on which one is handiest...). Perhaps your original cable is faulty or specific to whatever device it came with...?

you just have to make sure to use one that supports data, some charging cables don't have data capabilities.
