Cadence Sensor Pairing Issue

I have a Garmin cadence sensor strapped to my left crank arm. When I spin the crank, the green light on the sensor flashes for a few seconds, which means it's broadcasting its signals. However, my 520 can't seem to detect this sensor until after the ride when I choose to save it. At that time, I get a notification that the cadence sensor is found. This is with the recent 3.10 firmware. My 520 has no problem connecting to my PowerTap hub. Any ideas what's going on here? Never had this problem on either my Edge 500 or Edge 510.

I had the same problem just this morning. I was on a group ride and had to go into Settings-Sensor- then disable and enable the Cadence device. Then it synced up and worked the rest of the ride.

Sometimes this happens. Its a pain. On this same ride, I didn't have time to wet my nipples/ HR strap. The ride was starting and so I figured the HRM would start up once I started sweating. IT didn't so I got not HR info from this ride.

If you are going to use a Garmin, you apparently have to allot the last 5 minutes of ride prep to ensuring the Garmin has synced up the cadence and HR monitor. I would prefer to be talking with riders and focusing on the route instructions, not hoping my Garmin finds its devices and wetting a damn heart rate strap. This is especially inconvenient when its 32 degrees out.

Yep, like you said, there is a workaround. If I manually remove the stored cadence sensor before the ride, then add it again, the Garmin 520 will pick it up. This is definitely a P1 sev 1 bug.

Do you have another bike with a GSC10 combined sensor that is in the pool? For speed the 520 will give a prompt if it find two speed only sensors. But if finds a combined first it will not look for a speed only. I assume cadence is probably the same.

No other bike and no GSC10.
