TBT Navigation with TCX & RWGPS just about working?

After having 520 for about a week and messing around loads with navigational side, have finally got TBT to work via Ride with GPS .TCX files.

If I use regular TCX garmin tells me to turn either directly on turn or too late. I see RWGPS has a function for TCX export to enable "Notify before Turn" which I set to 60M and does the job. Only thing is it seems like I have to pay $6 month to get it functioning properly?
Slightly annoying!!!

Any ideas how to write TCX files with this "Notify before turn" without paying. & Yes I tried Bike Route toaster. But it adds another course point so you get 2 cues to turn, which is a bit annoying, and can't get ride of Virtual partner on BRT, which I also find a PITA.
Cheers

TCX files contain course points and they are the source of the turn notification. The notification happens when the course point is reached. The only way to get an earlier notification is to put the course points before the turn. So there is nothing that can be done other than using a program that will put the points before the turn. The data field "Crs Pt Dist" displays the distance to the next course point along with the turn direction icon. Even though I have the premium RWGPS membership and get the turn prompts early I rely on monitoring "Crs Pt Dist" and don't pay much attention to the notifications.

TBT ("Turn Guidance") and course points are two different forms on navigation. TBT doesn't work on the 520 and that is why you need the course points. I have "Turn Guidance" disabled in Course Options since it doesn't work. I also alway select cancel for the option to navigate to the beginning of the course because it doesn't work either.

Yes there is. You can manually edit these course points (create, delete, edit) and place them where ever you want and any distance you want without a premium account (if you want it automatic, you have to pay up). The only drawback is that you have to do them one by one by hand instead of automatic like on the premium account. Same goes for BikeRouteToaster. You can delete the second cue manually. Come in handy when you have a quick left right turn for example. Your Garmin does not has time enough to display them because there's a fixed time for displaying the cue (you can override that by pressing the cue text). During this time you'll notice your screens will freeze, it will "mostly" freeze your TBT too. Delete the cue for the right turn and edit the one for the left. Put in a left turn icon and the text left-right. This way you know the first turn is left directly followed by a right turn on the next intersection. There will be no cue for the right turn but you don't need that since the first cue gives you all the info you need.
Also, the texts generated by both programmes are way to long. Your Garmin will cut of anything beyond 10 characters.

As I thought, thanks for the info. Ill try it out on BRT, I guess if you have a long route its a pain.
On virtual partner in BTR, if I just make speed really slow, does that mean it wont interfere with my map screen? Cheers again
