Thanks, yes I found the virtual partner under profiles. the weird thing today was that the virtual partner was turned off for the profile I was using, yet it came on briefly while riding and then shortly thereafter the entire 520 shut down. I restarted it and continued the ride, but the screens were screwed up...map screen frozen for a time, etc. Probably needs a complete factory reset to clear the corruption...
others have reported flaky turn offs with their 520's. be glad you have the 1000 (which might have its own quirks)
