Livetracking dropping out mid ride

Does anyone else have a problem with live tracking stopping mid ride? I'm not sure if it is a 520 or garmin connect issue. In the middle of my ride, the 520 will tell me that livetracking has stopped. To start it again, I have to set up live tracking again on garmin connect. It dropped out twice today, once yesterday and once the day before.

I'm using an iPhone 5s with Garmin Connect 3.1.0.13.
  • No drops in 80+ rides since Aug. Connected t an android phone.
  • One drop when my phone reboot (which is the phone issue - I use extremely old one when riding).
Aside from that it works perfectly.
  • I can't even get it to start! Connected to a note 4.
  • The very first time I started live tracking in the Garmin Connect app (android version) it automatically stopped about 10 seconds after I started it. Since then I haven't had the issue again, though I haven't done too many rides with it yet. I generally start the live tracking and then put Garmin Connect in the background and launch Runtastic in the foreground. Haven't had any issues with either dying while switching back and forth during a session. Not sure this wouldn't work on iPhone since apps in the background get frozen or whatever Apple calls it. Unless they've updated this behavior and apps can remain running in the background longer than 7 minutes.
  • Happens on my 510

It was happening on my 510 with an iPhone 6s. I also had an issue with the 510 reporting far too many calories for a given ride (i.e., 1000 calories for a ride that shows 500 kj work). I tried setting up a new activities profile, and found that not only did the calories start reporting correctly, but in three rides the live track has worked properly. You might try setting up a new activity profile.

FWIW, the live track session shows the proper route, but the distances and time are dramatically off. Yesterday's ride showed a negative distance - guess I would have been better off just sitting on the couch!

  • working after Garmin Connect app update

It looks like it is working with the latest iPhone Garmin Connect update. No dropped livetracking since the update.
