Edge 520/520 Plus HR sensor battery status

HR sensor battery status

HI all

I have bought Garmin 520 bundle (inc. speed, cadence and HR sensors). On the unit I checked status of each sensor and both speed and cadence sensors were reporting battery status as 'ok'. However, HR sensor battery status was reported as 'critical'. I have replaced the battery in HR sensor. Unfortunately it is still showing battery status on the sensor as 'critical'. Any thoughts?

I have exactly same situation with sensors' status, however I did not change HR battery yet, just though I have to.
BTW my device came less than week ago

My unit arrived just two weeks ago. Do you have this situation with all sensors or only HR sensor?

There is a software update due very soon on the 520. I would see if the Edge still reports it as critical after the update. It sounds like a bug in the way it is handling the battery status information.

Funny. I put brand new batteries in my Vector S and GSC-10 a couple weeks back and they show "critical", yet the (at least a year) old batt in my HRM strap (old, rubber style Garmin) shows "ok". So something wacky with this.

Looking forward to a fix.

I have updated firmware to version 3.00
The status of hr sensor's battery is now showing: --
I have also confirmed with Garmin support that this is not a known issue with the Edge 520 / HR sensor.

Showing "--" may be correct as most HRM do not send their battery status.

Hey Alan, what do you mean? Since battery statuses are like 'ok' or 'critical' (on other sensors) having -- as battery status would indicate that there is not battery information sent. Did you meant that most HR monitors do not send their battery status?

Yes, sorry for the typo. It should have read "do not send".
