Edge 520 - Switched off mid-ride

Hi,

I took my new Edge 520 out for it's first test run tonight but was disappointed when it turned itself off midway through my ride. I switched the device back on and recorded the rest of my ride as a separate activity, but obviously hoping this isn't the norm. Can anybody please advise if they've encountered this problem and if there's a way to solve it?

I've attached the .fit file if that's any help and also also a screenshot of the graph from the live tracking page (where some odd behaviour can be seen for the speed, elevation and heart rate lines.

Any help is appreciated!

For any 520 users that are running 12.50 with their Edge 520 and also using Vector 3 pedal sets please update to the 12.53 beta here.

Mine spent an hour or turning itself off after 30 seconds of it being turned on. I tried all sorts of fixes, in the end I did a complete factory reset.

Mine did the same on my 4th ride, so did the factory reset and thankfully it hasn't happened since ! ... now I've done it ! :eek:

Same here... Sometimes it works like a charm, the other day it crashes several times!

Mine did same 2 times, and exactly at same place. Just before I hit lap button.
Second time I switched it on, and pushed start button- activity continued recording.

The one thing it taught me is to back up the activity profiles, as it was a pain recreating them.

I've been riding with my Garmin 520 since it first came out, and it has worked OK until today when mid-ride it simply turned off. At a stop light I turned it on, which then created a second ride instead of continuing the original ride. Very odd behavior. :(

Back up profiles

The one thing it taught me is to back up the activity profiles, as it was a pain recreating them.

How do you do that?

I've had this happen once with the 520. Riding along mid ride and i noticed it had turned itself off. I restarted it and it resumed recording that ride.
