Edge 25 fully charged? No prompt when fully charged?

I just bought an Edge 25 a couple of days and when i charged it (iphone 5s charger) there was no progress bar or percentage shown like on the forerunner 220, just the battery pic showing it was charging. After like two hours after having to disconnect every once and a while to check how the charge was going on the home screen the battery meter seemed to be full in the home screen but if i connected the charger again it displayed the same image like if it was charging. I thought maybe it had to something with the fact that i was using the iphone charger so i plugged it in to my macbook air and the charging page came up with the same image showing it was charging.

Is this normal? If it is I hope garmin gives us a fix for this on a future update.

Thanks,

MD

    From Garmin it's normal..
  • While the Edge 25 is in the process of charging the battery icon is animated. When it is fully charged the battery icon is no longer animated.

Thanks Alan, you're right, I just had to wait a little longer, the animation finally stopped.

Personally, I think Garmin needs to address this in a future firmware update - at least add a % figure to the battery icon... this is seriously basic stuff that doesn't 'blur' the boundaries between more expensive units in the Edge family.

Still it does not show the same icon, on firmware 2.70 when you are charging from a PC you see a dynamic icon: big battery filling and then refilling until it is charge when you see it completey full with another smaller icon next to it showing it is full and then it becomes all static.

Now plug it into an iphone charge and you only see a small battery icon on the top left, static not dynamic and I have no idea if it is charging or not.

Do I need to plug into a PC to charge it?

    That's my question also.

Connecting to a PC you see an animated charging picture.

Connecting to an external power supply the Garmin goes on, which can't be switched off.
It stays on and you only see a small battery icon in the upper corner which states it is connected to power.

If I switch the Edge 25 on and connect it to my iPad charger there is a short battery loading animation. It switches back to home screen and shows that it is connect to a power source.

When it is fully charged the lightning symbol inside the battery will disappear.
So there is a signal for being fully charged.
