Edge 25 resume ride later

Hey guys,

So I wanted to see if anybody knew something I didn't about this. Pretty much every garmin sport device I've ever owned has had a "Resume Later" option after you stop a ride. This was useful to me, as I use a garmin to record my commutes, and don't wanna post 5 rides a day for every time I stopped. The edge 200 didn't have a resume later function, but instead when you turned it off without saving a ride, it turned back on ready to resume it. I can't seem to find this feature anywhere on the edge 25. There is no "resume later" function, and if I turn off my device, it automatically saves the ride. Any ideas? Or does anybody know if a future software update will fix this?

Another small issue, the Edge 25 doesn't seem to ever turn off on it's own, unless the battery dies. And I can't find a setting to change this. Any ideas?

Thanks
  • I have a Garmin Edge 25 and want to use is for a ride of 12 hours. So I understand from your posts that there is still no option to charge the edge 25 after you have started recording? Is the USB OTG cable an option or not?

No, at least not for me. I tried connecting the edge 25 charging cable to my smartphone via an OTG adaptor and it immediately stopped (and saved) the activity.

    merge your files

only option to have 1 file for a trip where you had to charge, and hence got the autosave, is merging your different files with a third party soft.
    e.g. http://gotoes.org/strava/Combine_GPX_TCX_FIT_Files.php

    Any update expected from Garmin

Dears I much appreciated the Edge25 due to its size. THough the battery life is limited compared to anyother Garmin Edge device. Which is fair as it is considerable smaller. Though I fully agree with the general tendency of this topic, charging while riding or pausing or resuming ride should be possible.

Therefor hereby my question to any of the Garmin moderators monitoring this topic. Can you please indicate whether this issue is being handled by Garmin for future firmware updates?

Garmin Edge 25: Pause and resume ride later to save battery

It has been about 2 years since this thread was started, and still not a single response from Garmin about whether such functionality is going to be included or not in the next update.

I presume the intended target market for this small device would be commuters or relatively new starters to cycling. As such, their rides would more likely include multiple stops. Therefore having the ability to pause a ride and shut off the device to save power should be a requirement.
If the Edge 520 can do it, why should the 25 be deliberately "dumbed-down" ?
