forgot to stop recording at end of ride - how can I edit the track?

I forgot to stop recording at the end of my ride and then drove home while still recording. :-( I assume there is some way I can edit the track (either before I upload to Garmin Connect or after). If so, how?

Thanks!

    Hi Keith,

Attach the .fit file in a reply to this message or upload the file to Dropbox and then share the link. Let me know where I need to trim the file from and I will get it done.

    cheers

    Hi Mike,

Thanks very much for responding. At the risk of sounding dumb, I don't even know how to get the .fit file. I've always just used Garmin Express to grab the data from the device and upload it to Garmin Connect. Should I sync the device and then export the .fit file from Garmin Connect? Or can I copy the .fit file directly from the device? Or does it matter?

    Thanks again!

    Hi Keith,

You can either do what Phil suggested and make the activity public on Garmin Connect and then share the link to said activity or (and I am not 100% sure this will work as I am not familiar with the Edge 20/25) attach your device to your computer, it should come up as an external drive (my Edge 800 shows up as drive I) and then explore to the 'Activities' folder. The .fit file will be in there.

    cheers

Okay, I copied the .fit file from the device to my laptop (a Mac). Unfortunately, when I tried to attach it here I was not successful (I tried twice). So, I sync'd the device with Garmin Connect and the event can be found here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1636706678

The end point should have been the same as the start point.

    Thanks!

    hi Keith,

Garmin Connect doesn't give me the option to download the 'original'. Not sure what is happening there....? Possibly downloading the 'original' is only available to the creator.

Can you get yourself a free Dropbox account and upload the .fit file and then share the link to it in a reply to this message?

    cheers

Okay, here's a link to the dropbox file (in theory): https://www.dropbox.com/s/igrgvelchgpl4hp/73KG0529.FIT?dl=0

    Thanks!

Hi, I had the same issue with recording an activity last night. I stopped recording much later and after a car ride, which is throwing off all the metrics. Is there any way I can cut the activity at a certain time and have Connect recalculate the metrics from there?

  • Garmin Connect does have an activity trim function which should then recompute most of the metrics.
