How to enable Virtual Partner on EDGE130 and what should I expect to see?

I have followed course on my edge130 but have not seen the virtual partner screen mentioned in the manual. What are the prerequisites for this please.

    I think the only VP data that 130 gives when following a course is the VP position indicator on the elevation plot and on the map/track page.

    If the VP is further ahead/behind than can be shown on with the current scale of those pages you will not see anything.

    I have just upgraded from the Edge 500 to the 130.  I am disappointed by the Virtual Partner feature; in the Edge it gives graphic indications  on the map and the profile.  PLUS, on the profile screen it showed time and distance ahead / behind plus time to complete.  The time behind display enabled one to see whether you were closing the gap, and told you exactly how far behind / ahead you were.  The 130 only appears to have the graphic indicators from which it is very difficult to see whether you are gaining or losing.  Or am I missing something?

    Apart from these it seems a nice unit; I'm hoping it doesn't lose the course as the Edge 500 used to do occasionally.

    The graphic position on the map and elevation page are currently the only VP related information that is available on the 130.

    Ok many thanks for the info.  I have seen that but in the manual it suggests something more sophisticated but seems not for this model.  I also assume that the position of the white arrow for the VP is dependant upon the 'goal' time/speed which you enter when creating the course rather than your best time tracked over previous attempts?

    Correct the pace of the VP is set when the course is created and not based on your best time. If you want something that reflects your best time you could create a very long segment that matches the course. The down side would be that the segment would trigger any time you went through the start point.
