Can Pair to Speed/Cadence Sensor But can’t “connect”

I’ve got a new Garmin Edge 130, I have a Bluetooth heart rate monitor and a Bluetooth Speed/Cadence sensor. I can pair with and receive data from the heart rate monitor. I can pair to the Speed/cadence sensor, but the edge 130 isn’t receiving any data from it. When I go to the “sensors” menu, there’s an option to connect to the sensor but when I try that (after showing the spiny wheel thing) it returns with the message “failed to connect”.

I know the sensor is working, because it works fine when I connect to it via my iPhone (Strava/wahoo etc...) I get data fine.

What is the brand/model of Spd/Cad sensor?

I'll have to check this evening, but it's either a Aldi or Lidl one or a generic no-name one from ebay.

It's really odd that I can easily discover/pair with the sensor, but then not connect to/gett any readings from it.

What is the brand/model of Spd/Cad sensor?

It's a B'TWIN Speed & Cadence Sensor (from Decathlon ">Link">Link)

I have a different sensor so this is not an isolated case. I suggest you contact Garmin support and complain that the device doesn't perform as advertised, and refer to these threads. Maybe you'll have better luck than I had..

Thanks for pointing me at the other thread, sounds like there’s a bug in the 130 firmware.

Ben.G, I just read the comments on the linked decathlon site.

Decathlon has stopped selling this product and is offering another product instead.

Strongly suggest to buy only seperate spd/cad sensors.

..Which shouldn't be necessary. Garmin advertise Bluetooth support and our sensors evidently work with other devices.

I had the same issue, but i am using a Wahoo Blue SC. It is a bluetooth issue between Garmin connect and the sensors. The Wahoo is both ANT and bluetooth. i turned off the bluetooth connection on the Edge 130 for the Wahoo and only use ANT and now it works fine.

I think its got something to do with running 2 bluetooth connections at same time. so if you running connect in the backround, which is using bluetooth and your using bluetooth to connect the sensor you might have and issue.

Turn off the bluetooth on your phone as see what happens.
