Garmin Fenix 5 plus and Edge 130 Extended display issue

**Cross posting here and on the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus forum**

Folks I have the Fenix 5 plus and Garmin Edge 130 - both running latest firmware. The Edge connects to the Fenix 5+ for Extended Display and everything seems to be working fine but then invariably after about 5 minutes of riding it disconnects and the Edge keeps saying trying to connect. I have tried holding the watch very close to the Edge while riding but even then it will not reconnect. Not sure if anyone else is seeing this issue and if the problem is on the 130 side or Fenix 5+?

Second question is for Garmin - any way to change the data fields and order on the 130 Extended Display more?

I'm having the same issue, it gets disconnected 2 minutes after being connected. Let's see what they say.

I have been having the exact same problem with the Fenix 5 Plus and Edge 130. It is very frustrating. Any responses yet on the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus forum?
  • Garmin Sweden says it’s not (yet) supported on the plus series :-(

I spoke to Garmin, they said mine was the 1st time this issue is reported. They asked me to copy the watch files using my computer, create a zip file and send it replying to the email the tech guy sent me with the instructions. They will send the issue to engineering. That was 2 days ago. I’ll keep you guys posted.

Ok thanks - I have sent an email to Garmin Support as well to make it formal. Crazy that this passed their testing.

I went through the same with Garmin Sweden before they informed me that it was not supported on the 5+:-(

i have the same problem, you have a solution ?
  • There is a new bluetooth update for the 5+. I just updated and did a very quick test and it didn’t disconnect after 2 minutes as before. I do however need do some more proper testing before I can say anything for certain.
  • Short test cycling to the gym today (about 5 minutes). So far so good :-)
