Bluetooth problems

Anybody else having problems with the bluetooth connection with this device?
I have had several devices connected by bluetooth to my phone in the past without any problems, including most recently an Edge 1000. I still use this phone with my Fenix 3.
Unfortunately the Edge 130 doesn't seem to maintain a connection and has to be reconnected in order to force it to sync! This makes uploading by my phone ca complete pain. As the unit doesn't use Wi Fi like my Fenix and 1000 this means the only way of syncing is by connecting to Garmin Express on a computer. A real pain.

I have done all the usual stuff, stopping a restarting bluetooth on the phone and the edge. Rebooting everything and reconnecting several times, nothing seems to work.
  • Same here, trouble started for me after upgrading to 2.4. With version 2.2 bluetooth connectivity with my iPhone worked fine.
  • I have also tried synchronization through a pad using Bluetooth and Garmin connect, this
doesn't work. The furthest the unit ever gets is trying to perform a sync. The little wheel goes round forever on both the unit and the phone or pad but an actual sync never happens.
it's a great shame that the unit won't sync through Bluetooth as otherwise its a great unit. Why do all my other Garmin things all sync fine but not this?
  • we have 2 and they both sync fine (if a bit slower than I remember previous Garmin devices). Mine is on an S7 and my wife has an iPhone 8+.
  • Just to add to the list I also had an Edge 1000 that synced no problem to my phone (Samsung Galaxy J3) via Bluetooth but the Edge 130 won't. The Edge 130 takes two or three attempts to even pair and when it and the app say they are syncing and sometimes even synced it doesn't sync. I've tried unpairing repairing and rebooting both and had no success :-/

I also have this problem, but found a workaround. I launch the Connect app, and give it a good 30 seconds to try and sync. If it doesn't, I turn Bluetooth off on the iPhone and turn it back on. Within about 10 seconds it begins to sync up. This tells me that the problem is most likely with the Connect app or iOS.
  • I've been having connection issues all along. Sometimes the 130 and my iphone7 connect right away, other times I have to work at it awhile to get them to connect. Often times starting all over in the new device process. It's annoying. Any hints?
  • I have a Android (Huawei P20 Pro) and I've noticed it doesn't hold the Bluetooth to the Edge 130 as well as it used to.

Sometimes it connects and then loses the connection during a ride Sometimes I can't get it to connect at all and the only workaround I've found is to reboot the phone. I'm not sure it's the phone though because it still connects fine with my Forerunner 645M.

I have the same problem with my phone (Samsung Galaxy S7), I've been having connection issues for last 3 mounts. I have tried to reboot the phone, but It didn't give any results. I reckon the problem caused by connection issues:(
  • I've got the same problem, on a Nokia 6.1 and a Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. Syncing usually stalls at 50% then fails.

Some days it works, but mostly not.

I've tried factory resets on both phones, the Garmin Edge 130, pairing and re-pairing again and again. Followed the troubleshooting steps given to me by Garmin support. Nothing has fixed it.

I’ve found that to get a reliable connection I needed to pair twice: Once as recommended by Garmin, ie through GC. Secondly by pairing with the phone as per any other BT device. This seems to give a quick reliable connection for me (Samsung A3 phone).
Without the second pairing I find connection erratic with it connecting and disconnecting as some have reported in this thread.

    Might be worth a try?
