garmin edge 130 problems with strava segments and shutting down in middle of segment.

purchased 3 days ago, uploaded lots of segments from strava (had to pay £45.00 for premium),linked through Garmin connect none would come up on that I had favourited in strava, just random segments came up really.
and when they did , a few minutes in and the screen would shut down and reboot with garmin coming up on the screen , happened 8 times in a 1hr 45min ride.
id love to keep it if it worked as it should, but alas its just pointless in my opinion so now sorting a return with a refund from wiggle uk
  • Check you segment setting on Strava to see that the popular segments setting is set to off. By default this is on and will send over a number of segments in your area so that the unit has some some segments even if you have not stared anything.

    What software build do you have on the 130, the latest is 2.20?

    it updated a few days ago(the software) so im assuming its the latest software and up to date.
    why is it turning off and on all the time?always halfway through a segment(popular segment) is there a maximum number of "starred sections" off strava that can be uploaded to the device ?
    So im assuming if I turn the popular segments to off then I should get all my starred sections on my ride next time?
    I will try later and see.

  • vtofwales please reach out to our UK support team so that we can help find out what might be going on. We can get some logs off the device to determine what might be going on.
  • Same situation here, first ride with my new Edge 130 and it crashed during a Strava Segment and rebooted (screen went blank, automatically restarted). These are the same segments that I have on my Edge 820 and, despite doing this ride weekly, never had a crash before on any of the segments on the 820. I'm on 2.20 of the software which I believe is the latest.
  • I had the same issue today, raised a ticket with support and asked me to do a device reset. Have others got IQ fields added ? I did add 2 yesterday and segments were working before this.
  • It's not IQ that causes the problem. I removed My Edge IQ first and did the segment again, it rebooted in the same place as before, pressing the start button twice resumed the ride. I then removed xert My FTP IQ and did it again. It rebooted again in the same place ! Pressing the start button twice again resumed the ride.
  • Could you post the Garmin\Debug\err_log.txt file from the 130?
  • Done a reset, and going to try the segment again today. Any indications of the problem from the files above ?
