First time since several years: need to downgrade from 13.75

Hi,

first of all: i appologize for my simple english, which contains surely a lot of mistakes and some strange grammar... - i'm a german. Sorry! :-)

I use the Edge now for several years ( >> 10!) and was allways absolutely happy with it. No bugs, no problems - simply perfect for my needs.

But since the last firmware update to 13.75 (a few days ago) the device freezes and is going off several times on each (!) of my rides. That's really annoying!

=> Where do I get the prior firmware-version?

=> after getting the file gupdate.gcd i just have to plave it in the /garmin/ folder and restart the device - right?

=> As far as i know, i will loose with a downgrade all my settings. DoI have to set them manually or is it possible to resore them (via connect or express)?

Thanks a lot!
Hermino

  • Moin Moin,

    schließ den Edge an deinen PC mit USB an, wechsel zu //Garmin/debugging/backup/ dort findest du einige *.fit Dateien die zum Zeitpunkt deines Upgrade automatisch gesichert wurden.

    Z.B. die Dateien   CyclingRoad-deinProfilname-.fit ,Totals.fit (deine bislang gefahrenen Km Werte), Settings.fit, ,Records.fit, Locations.fit. Für den Fall, dass zwischen Up- und Downgrade  Touren liegen kannst du aus den Stammordnern

    //Garmin/

    Totals/;

    Sports/; (die Anzahl *.fit  =  deine Aktivitätsprofile e.g. Road, MTB ... )

    Records/

    Locations/

    die aktuellen *.fit Dateien   sichern und später zurückspielen.

    Sicher dir diese *.fit-Dateien auf dem PC,  sobald du die alte FW-Version hast, kopiere die *.fit-Datein auf den Edge in den Ordner //Garmin/NewFiles....dann kannst du den Edge starten. Alternativ FW-Downgrade aufspielen, dann erst die *.fit Dateien in //Garmin/NewFiles vom PC rüberschieben und neu starten.

    => after getting the file gupdate.gcd i just have to plave it in the /garmin/ folder and restart the device - right?  YES

    Deine KM Werte und die Aktivitätsprofile hast du damit "gerettet". Die Neuerfassung der Sensoren bleibt dir leider nicht erspart.

    PS.: falls du eine alte Version > FW13.50 benötigst, melde dich.

  • Hallo Offenbacher,

    vielen Dank für die schnelle und hilfreiche Antwort!

    Ja, ich hätte in der Tat gerne eine FW vor 13.75, also 13.73 oder 13.50

    Brauchst dazu meine E-Mailadresse?

    => [email protected]

    Beste Grüße

  • Can you send me the 13.73 firmware please,i can't find anywhere.That archive doesn't exist anymore and I struggle to find it.

    My email is [email protected]

  • With a latest update my edge 1030 battery is draining in less then a day, I never had that problem for 5 years. Just to make sure I ordered a "new" battery (that was probably sitting on shelfs for years), but still think this issue is software/FW related so that shall be fixed first.

    I would be interested to learn a downgrade as well.

    • I’ve downgraded my Edge 1030 to 13.73 and it didn’t help.The errors keep getting worse and it stops working after 8-20km.It restarts alone and i can’t help it.

  • The Chat suggested to delete some folders from edge, doesn't help. Charge it last night to 100%, today afternoon was 98%, I just checked an hour ago started dropping rapidly to 75%.

    Ordered the batteries for diy, but ETA 10 days.

  • From experience, swapping a battery on the 1030 isn't fun.  It also doesn't fix the hardware/firmware problem going on..  The consequences of the battery getting flattened repeatedly was a "spicy pillow" threatening to burn my house down when I replaced it.  New battery is still ok, but only way to NOT have the problem is just leave plugged in.
