Garmin edge 1030 only partially charges 33% to 49%

Since the last couple of software updates my Garmin Edge 1030 only show that it's partially charged and keep going into sleep mode, it's verry annoying, never had any issues before, even on a 120 mile ride it never went below 50% charge. it has to be a software bug, Garmin please fix this issue because it's annoying the crap out of me, I'm ready to give up on Garmin and go with another brand.

  • This is a user forum, nobody from Garmin will get back to you. If you want to get hold of them you need to contact their product support. Here is what I would do if I were you.

    1. Use a different USB cable, if if you changed it just before you had issues, maybe go back to the one you had before.  Yes they are all supposed to be the same but trust me they are not. Some a crap. Some break. Just use a different one.

    2. Before you plug the Edge for charging shut it down. Not sleep mode, turn it off. For that press and hold the power button until a menu with 3 options comes up (sleep, lock and turn off) and choose "Turn off device". When it turned completely off, screen is dark, you can plug it for charging in a power only source. When you plug it, the Edge will go in charge mode with a basic display giving only a charge indicator, then it will charge completely and then go back off by itself. Again, do not use sleep mode, make sure your turn it OFF completely before charging.

    3. So use a power only source such as an iPhone or iPad power block to which you connect the USB cable. Do you use a power source with data such as a computer USB port.

    Good luck.

  • Thanks Martin868,
I did try 4 different charging cables they charge other things fine, I know it’s not the cables or the USB power block, I believe it’s a software  issue because some times it shows that it’s fully charged at 100% and after I shut it down and start it up again it shows it’s only 34% charged whiting a minute it looses 66% of the charge I know that’s impossible. This started a couple of weeks ago  after a software update.

  • OK, try the other points then...
