CycliqPlus Fly12

I have a Edge 1030 paired with a Cycliq Fly12 at the front and a Varia RT radar/rear light.

The issue I have is that I can’t, seem to stop the light/camera turning on when I power up the Edge.

Also the light seems to turn off randomly for no apparent reason.

Any ideas?

  • I gave up on trying to have my Edge control my Fly12. Apparently, if you have both a front and rear light in your light network, the Fly12 loses its mind. I ended up manually controlling the Fly12 with its buttons. Much less frustrating that way.

  • Right it does seem to have a mind of its own.

I can't seem to delete the Fly12 from the Garmin

  • I used a Cycliq Fly 12 CE and a Fly 6 CE (2nd Gen) for the past two years.  I was an early adopter and actually had the original  Cycliq stuff since the company started selling them. The stuff never worked really well when paired to an Edge.  I got much better battery life and experienced far fewer issues and more reliability when the things weren’t connected and I operated them manually.  Delete them as sensors and disable the light network.  You will save yourself headaches.

Both of my Cycliq devices died, and neither would turn on at the start up at the beginning of this season.  Every Cycliq product I’ve owned has had to go back for warranty replacement at least once, and the process was  incredibly difficult and painstakingly slow.  Cycliq has pitiful quality control and awful customer service.  It’s products are junk.   In fairness, Cycliq did offer me 20% off on replacements.  That was a hard “no.  You have to be joking.”

I’m waiting for Garmin to come to market with competitive products.  Build a camera into the Varias and they will be winners.  In the meantime, the Varia UT 800 and RTL 515 are great and work like they are supposed to, even when connected as smart lights.

  • Thanks for the info.

I have noticed the Fly 12 battery life to be quite poor, wouldn’t last 2 medium rides.

And yes there does appear to be so compatibility issues with Garmin products.

on the upside video quality is very good.

  • Garmin looks to be offering a competing product.  U like Cycliq, Garmin always has stood behind its products IME, even after the warranty has expired.
