Synchronizing takes ages after upgrading the firmware to any version starting with a 13.

Roughly two months ago I upgraded the firmware of my Edge 1030 to the beta version 13.26 (?) which was available then. Right after that upgrade I noticed that the device will need MUCH longer to sync with the Connect App on my Android smartphone which is always up to date. It might take them 10 minutes or even more before an activity which I just finished was uploaded. From what the app shows the synchronization would either not proceed any further or start all over again repeatedly.

That behavior has neither changed after an upgrade 1o 13.29 beta nor after the most recent upgrade to the firmware version 13.30.

Does anyone has any idea how to bring it back to its normal function?

  • Have you removed the old activities from the device? I remove all activities from my Garmin devices two times per year to keep them fresh and not hit any max limit.

  • I did.

I do it only once per year though, at the beginning of a new year.

But I'd argue that's not the problem here, as the behavior changed right upon updating the firmware. There was only one additional activity added to that list (and the updated firmware), no other changes and suddenly synchronizing became an issue.

  • Connect your Edge 1030 to  a computer and check the "New Files" folder, there maybe some *.tmp files in there that can be deleted.

  • Thanks, but no, I already checked that before. The folder is and was empty.

  • Mine is sometimes kind of slow when uploading/syncing over BT (phone) but it still works. However it works much faster over WiFi. Could well be an issue with the Connect Mobile App since I think my watch is also kind of slow to sync lately. They keep patching the phone app, fixing some issues and creating new ones... goes on and on. Cheers.
