1030 shuts down when pressing start button

My Edge 1030 switches itself off when I try to start a ride. Started doing it intermittently about a month ago. Now I cannot record a ride. I can monitor all sensors without pressing the start button, but as soon as I press start/stop button, the unit switches. off. Problem occurs in all activity profiles set up on the device. I have updated software to version 13.20 and done a system reset. Right now my 1030 is useless. Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you called Garmin customer service? This sounds like a hardware issue.

I don‘t really know if it helps, but what I would try:

Connect your Edge to your PC/Mac
As soon you can adress the device as drive goto Edge/Garmin
From here goto /Newfiles and delete all files - if there are any
goto /Activities and copy all files to your hard disc and then delete all files on Edge/Activities
goto /Courses and copy all files to your hard disc and then delete all files on Edge/Courses
goto /Segments and copy all files to your hard disc and then delete all files on Edge/Segments

Then disconnect (safely), let boot and try again.

I called Garmin, and they agreed to replace with refurbished unit at discounted price. Reasonable I thought.
