Garmin connect assigning mountain bike activity while Garmin 1030 is Road

Hi,

i started having this issue recently, maybe since I change my IPhone from XR to 13.
I record my activity using road profile in my Garmin 1030. But when activity is loaded to the Garmin Connect, activity is recognized as Mountain.

not sure if the two problems are connected, I’m also unable to get my training status, while I have recorded multiple rides since I changed my phone.

finally, I find your software very unstable, I keep having many issues which is my experience painful.

1. Troubles to start sometimes.

2. Language change to finish for example after reboot/software installation.

3. Battery status not changing after multiple rides, remains at 100%

it would be great to help with all these issues to enhance my experience.

I had this issue with my Gravel profile recently, and I discovered that even the profile was named “Gravel,” within the profile itself the default ride type listed was “Mountain.” I changed it and voila…

Recently I've began to have my road rides register as mtb. WTF!

Garmin Connect saves the ride to its default regardless of the Garmin DEVICE used. It's easy to change before or after a ride.

Yes, it's easy to change in garmin connect, but it's already synced to strava and trainingpeaks wrong. If your training plan shows a bike workout it doesn't match up in trainingpeaks. You'll have a mtn bike finished ride and an incomplete road bike. What a pain!

When you click stop you get a screen where you can save your ride. At the bottom it says the type of ride it will save and I guess there is a possibility to change the type before save but I've never tried that. Does it say Road before you save?

Yes, easy to change by pressing the arrow on the right and a list of ride types comes up to select.

Thanks, Looks to be a workaround BUT the bigger issue is we should not have to manually change it back to road. The Garmin 1030 has a bug, it takes road rides and converts them to mtn bike rides. This is a bug!

It is a bug but only on some devices. My 1030 logs it correctly every time. So what might be causing this? Does it say the correct type at the bottom before you save?

Will it log correct type if you click the bottom button and select road again (even if it already says road)?

It is a lot easier to fix the bug if we give more info about it so the devs know how to reproduce it and any workarounds. The worst bugs to fix are those that can't be reproduced in a controlled environment since you will not know if you fixed it or what might be causing it.
