For all Edge 1030 owners who use custom symbology

Recently I submitted a post where I mentioned that after I upgraded to firmware version 12.20, my custom POI's would no longer display.

I've done some experimenting recently, trying to get my custom POI's to reappear.  I decided to try changing one of my custom POI's (towers) from a regular memory address to an extended address.  It no longer worked using 2F13 so I changed it to 10000.  Didn't work.  So I changed it back to 2F13.  Still wouldn't display.  So I changed it to 2F10.  Still wouldn't display.  In desperation, I reverted my firmware back to version 11.10.  Still wouldn't display.  I decided to see if the default Garmin symbol for towers would display, so I changed my Mkgmap text file to utilize the default symbol.  Thankfully, the default symbol works.  This process points out a characteristic of all four Garmin Edge units I've owned.  lt seems there is a limit to how many times you can change the custom symbology, or add new symbols.  With every unit I've owned, after a while it would no longer accept changes to the custom symbology.

Later I discovered Garmin the new beta version of the firmware update Garmin is offering, 12.63, so I decided to load it and see what happened to the map.  Not only would my custom POI's not display, but now some of the lines and polygons display with inferior symbology.  For example, the wooded areas, which used to be green, are now blue!  And all the highways are now gray, along will all other types of roads.  They used to be red.  My fear is that Garmin is changing their img format more and more with each upgrade (at least for the Edge), and eventually none of my custom symbology will display.

Does my experience strike a chord with anyone else?
