Edge 1030 won't restart after 12.2 update

Subject says it all really, I was offered the 12.2 update this morning, accepted and now have the 1030 hanging on the black "Garmin" log screen with "loading courses, workouts and location" at the bottom. Have forced a restart via a ten second holding of the power button a couple of times but to no avail. Anybody else having this issue or does anybody know of a solution, please?

Thanks,

            Steve

  • Thanks, both. Prior to your replies I had been restarting the 1030 intermittently and, after the fifth or sixth attempt, it all fired up normally! Strange glitch but, hopefully, I'm sorted now.

    Thanks,

  • I had the same experience... noticed that update 12.20 was "available" about a week ago, but the firmware file I received through my phone was corrupted; I deleted it, but the only update available online was 12.14 BETA.

Today I installed Garmin Express on my PC and plugged in my Edge 1030; it got a huge map update that took an hour or more to install. After rebooting the Edge, I checked for firmware updates: once again, 12.20 shows as available, so I installed it.

Afterwards, my Edge 1030 would get stuck at various points in the "boot-up" process, and would not respond to any touch-screen or button inputs. I had to cycle power with a 10-second button-hold several times, but eventually it came back to life; it seems OK now.

  • me too, right after the 12.2 update.  Getting stuck booting or on the display a few times. But mostly staying on the "power circle" icon when shutting down instead of shutting down completely.  I had to hold the power button for 10 seconds, then it booted ok, and would "usually" shut down correctly that time.

I had repeated problems like this last week, but yesterday and today it's been okay.
