After software upgrade to v12.0 - Map/screen rendering issues in 3D navigating mode

After the software upgrade to v12.0 I have the following issue with my Garmin Edge 1030:
When navigating a course in 3D mode the route displays big white directional arrows. Very often when you switch direction, the screen doesn't render properly. It shows only a part of the map and the rest is a white/blank screen. It seems that the rendering of the screen is freezed or is very slow. After a few seconds the rendering of the map continues and than it's ok for a while.

This behaviour occurs very often while navigating and is very annoying as sometimes you don't see where to navigate too.

Added on 10/07/2021 4 photos i took while doing a test ride (one after another) + a movie where you can see the problem (problem starts after 15, 40, 61,..... seconds)

My wife and I have the same problem since updating to V12. Only happens in 3D... Annoying...

I have the same issue. I've executed a master reset, but this didn't solve the problem.

Did you try to downgrade from version 12.0 towards a lower version that didn't have the "directional white arrows" displayed( e.g. version 11)?

My guess is that this new functionality is messing up the screen rendering.

I think also the white arrows are the reason for this issue. I hope Garmin soon has a fix for this. I live on good hope, because the problem isn't isolated to the Edge 1030 alone.

I didn't have a close look at the downgrade options yet. It seems possible to install previous (beta) versions but what if things really get messed up during the installation process. I've no idea if the Edge 1030 has some kind of BIOS to boot from USB or Garmin Express or ...

Did you try the new beta 12.14 ? One fix is map rendering

I installed version 12.14. I'll check during my next ride on Sunday.

This weekend I rolled back to software version 11.10 and i did a liitle test ride (4 km).

Result: The directional arrows are gone and the rendering of the screen also seems to be working fine.

I will do a bigger ride on Thursday to see if all is ok.

One minus was that after i downgraded to the previous version 11.10 ALL my personal settings were lost (activity profiles, sensors, bluetooth, WIFI, screen layouts, personal settings like age, weight, height, warnings, notifications, routing & tracking parameters,...)

I had to manually initialize them all again

One plus ALL the courses and rides were still there.

I don't usually use the 3D option but after reading about the rendering issue I set my 1030 to 3D and I noticed the erratic screen behavior. On my next ride using navigation, I setup a new profile also with 3D navigation and I was surprised that the screen rendering problem was greatly reduced. Switching back to my regular profile caused the problem to return. Another Garmin idiosyncrasy.
