Is the Bontrager 1030 at end-of-support?

Six months ago we were told the Bontrager 1030 was still going to be seeing updates, albeit more slowly w/regards betas than the Garmin-branded 1030. But it's been a full month since the 11.19 beta, with two additional betas since, with nothing for the Bontrager. The gaps were much shorter in the past, with betas available same day, in some cases, for both.

My Bontrager 1030 is becoming increasingly glitchy and I'm hoping that new firmware might help.

Thanks-

  • There was a beta released for the 1030 (the Bontrager 1030 uses the same software) just two days ago.

  • Usually Garmin only do beta for the mainstream 1030, and exclude from Beta the Bontrager version as well as all APAC versions. Then when the release the FW it is available to everybody. If the beta has nothing that is specific to the Bontrager version I doubt they will bother including those in the beta process going forward. However I am quite sure they will keep updating that version at the same time they update the regular 1030 when it comes to released versions. I would not worry about that too much. But if it was important to you to get betas the Bontrager was not the good vehicle for that.

  • Yes, the beta is only released for the 1030. And only the US version (I believe).

But the idea is that the stuff in the beta will be released as the official release (for the 1030 and the Bontrager version).

  • Unfortunately, the Bontrager version cannot use the same firmware. Garmin supplies a separate firmware for the Bontrager-branded version. Hate that!

  • For the official release (non-beta), Garmin will release the firmware for the regular 1030 and the Bontrager 1030.

You just don't get the beta for the Bontrager 1030 (you don't get the beta if you have an Asian 1030 either).

  • So we're now at 13.10 for standard Garmin units, and the Bointrager version at a very problematic 12.20. Wonder if there's any chance of a unified update at some point, something that would work with either? Not feeling the love right now. :-)

  • So we're now at 13.10 for standard Garmin units,

13.10 is a BETA release, not GA.

  • What problems are you experiencing with the Bontrager version? I have the regular 1030 and the only problem I had was live tracking failed for several weeks which turned out to be a setting on my Iphone 12.

  • As is said above, usually Garmin release the Beta's only to regular units, but when they release the production version of the FW, which should be soon, they will make that one for a types of units (Regular, APAC, Bontrager, etc). They simply don't want the hassle of having multiple variants in Beta. So if you have a Bontrager wait for production release, which should not be too long since Beta 13.10beta has been out for a bit, and there was 13.00beta before it.

  • Lots of dropouts between the Garmin and speed/power/heart sensors. They always quickly reconnect but lots of beeping in the meantime. Unit still doesn't like to turn itself off but instead go into a quasi-sleep-mode; have to look really carefully to make sure there's not a very dim "power" logo on the screen.
