Trek Domane with DuoTrap speed and cadence sensor...it will not pair

My cadence and speed sensor was not pairing, so I took it into Trek they replaced the battery and they have a dongle or device they use to ensure it is operating...now my Garmin 1030 refuses to recognize or detect the DuoTrap. All things point to an issue with the Garmin 1030...any settings I should check, buttons I should push or recommendations?

  • Very unusual. When you run a magnet past the duotrap, do you get the red or green indicator lights? Those will show regardless of whether it's paired; they let you know the sensor is picking up the magnet and has power.

  • How did you try pairing? I've found that using the Search All option will solve some pairing issues.

  • Where would the lights be? I am wondering if it is possible for the battery to discharge completely during transit due to the location of the crank arm or the wheel sensor.

  • I had this problem with my Duotrap speed and cadence sensor oddly enough on my Domane. but using the Edge 530 so it may be a similar problem.

What I found was, if I searched for all, it would find the "Duotrap" and list it as a "Duotrap, but it would not work.

I found that if I search for "Speed and Cadence" sensor, it would find it, give it a number and it would work and I also got the speed and cadence symbols next to the name it was given. I also noticed that if I did add the "Duotrap", I only got the speed or cadence symbol but I cannot remember which one..

I have two "Duotraps" listed as  "53217" and the other "30330".

Another error I found that I was making was, when it had found a sensor, I would select it, then I would then press "Back" and failed to notice that you have to go back to the top of the page and select "Add" again.
