Search SRAM Etap 11 speed users

Hello,

I am looking for GARMIN 1030 users with the SRAM Etap 11 speed group to discuss their experiences.

For example, for a few weeks now, the connection with my Etap has been difficult. When I ride my bike, I notice that the connection disappears and comes back every 10 seconds. Do you have this problem?

Sometimes during my sessions, the battery of my 1030 drains very quickly (25% for 1 hour). Maybe it comes from the connection with my Etap?

Thanks for your feedback

  • I have two bikes with eTap 11-speed, and once I configured the eTap sensors on the 1030, my 1030 has no problem automatically connecting with eTap on whichever bike I'm riding and staying connected. Nor do I have any problem with rapid battery drain on the 1030 while it's connected to eTap - I did a 6-1/4 hour ride (actual moving time) a few days back, and the battery dropped from about 90% to 55% during the ride. The 1030 is running FW 11.00.

I have two bikes with Etap 11 speed, one the standard group with rim brakes, the other the HRD with wifli derailleur. I notice periodic drop-outs on the latter bike, but not the former. The drop-outs seem to become more frequent as the derailleur batteries discharge.

On neither bike do I see such a rapid discharge rate on the 1030, even with a Varia RTL510 paired. If you have ConnectIQ apps running, try turning those off.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for messages.

I think this is the same problem as JGBKC7.
My rear gear is a WIFLI and I have a battery that is not at the maximum.

For the draining battery on the EDGE 1030, I am still looking.

    other,

I saw a person who has an application or on his training we can see the gear changes. You know?

  • Both the eTap systems I'm using are HRD with WiFli RD, and I'm not getting dropouts on the connection with either of them, regardless of the battery level on the eTap. As far as seeing the gear changes, once you configure the eTap sensor on the 1030 and enter the chainring and cassette cog sizes, there is a standard data field available that shows the front and rear gears you are currently using, and when you end an activity on the 1030, if you look at the summary screen, it shows you the number of front and rear gear changes performed during the activity.

  • Using eTap 11 speed WiFli HRD.  No issues as those you describe, seems pretty solid.

Have used the data fields that Former Member describes, but recently removed them in a drive for fewer/larger data fields for my poor eyes :-)

Additionally, you can upload your .FIT file to di2stats.com to get a good post-ride assessment of gears used.

  • One thing you can try is a reset of the RD that talks to the Edge. Just remove the battery to the RD for at least 5 minutes. Connect the battery back, shift the front rings and rear cassette to repopulate the data and see if that helps.

  • Same experience here: 2 bikes with 11s eTap (+1 with mtb AXS), always connects, it records shifts consistently, no noticeable difference in battery life if I'm using a bike without eTap.

  • Hello All,

    Thanks for answer.

I will test your solutions and see if there is any improvement.

  • Hello,

    Interresting this post : https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/edge-1030/247843/battery-drain-issue

I feel like it's the same problem as me for the battery drain issue (Firmware 11 + negative degres).
